Key Service Area 04 /
In-Building Coverage (IBC) –
Cellular System (Feasibility Study)
Scope Of Works
In general, our scope of works for IBC covers all scope of works from pre-bid, pre-construction, construction, up to post construction stages which is to ensure reliable mobile communication signals within all areas of the building, including basements, lifts, and internal corridors where outdoor signals are weak or unavailable.
IBC requirement has becoming more demanding requirement especially for healthcare and hospital industry. As part of our ICT scope of work, we design IBC to be a system that provides reliable and fast network connections within a building due to its importance of the growing need for better network performance and lower latency in built environments. Due to certain factors that could create mobile black spots in any buildings such as building layouts and materials like concrete walls, metal frames, and dense insulation, these black spots could cause poor connectivity and call dropouts, which lead to lost productivity and missed opportunities for businesses.
During initial design of IBC, we always ensure all requirements for technologies and strategies will be properly designed to enhance and extend mobile network signals within buildings to specifically address the challenges of weak or inconsistent mobile signals experienced in large structures.
With our comprehensive design, IBC would be able to provide mobile coverage inside an area, where the coverage, quality or capacity would otherwise not have been satisfactory in accordance with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) or Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (SKMM) latest standard and Garis Panduan Perancangan Infrastruktur Komunikasi (GPP-I).
Our IBC offerings also enable Network Facility Provider (NFP) or mobile network operators to offer improved services and therefore increase usage revenue and optimise the building value to enable a high-quality passive devices which deliver high-performance while maximising the network efficiency in the IBS network.
From the initial planning, implementation up to maintenance, we offer IBC scope of works based on the following:
01.
Preliminary Study
02.
Design
03.
Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning
04.
Implementation
05.
Documentation
06.
Warranty
07.
Operation and Maintenance
Our approach for the IBC system is to design a solution to meet MCMC or SKMM technical standards, therefore, ensuring compliance, interoperability, and readiness for future 5G deployment.
Key Deliverables
Our common key deliverables, among others, include but not limited to the following:
- Preparation and submission of technical report detailing the study findings, which include indoor signal strength measurements, coverage analysis, and potential interference scenarios.
- Assessment of the technical and economic viability of implementing a distributed antenna system (DAS) or small-cell network within the premises.
- Liaise directly with SKMM and the licensed TELCO providers (such as CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, and Telekom Malaysia) to ensure the proposed solution aligns with the local cellular operators’ frequency spectrum and infrastructure sharing guidelines.
